I’ve been there. I have been deep in the cycle of debt. I’ve felt loss, scared and confused.
I was a single mom working my tail off to make ends meet. Like many others, I was stuck in the mindset that if I just stayed positive, used the Law of Attraction, had enough passion and drive and worked really really hard, I’d realize my dreams.
There was only ONE PROBLEM…
It wasn’t working.
Not even close.
Even though from the outside it looked like I was holding it all together and doing well, I was actually broke and broken on the inside. My finances and life were spiraling out of control.
One of the lowest points came the day I took money out of my son’s savings account in order to keep the lights on. At that point, I KNEW something had to change.
Ultimately, I ended up filing bankruptcy.
At the time I was going through bankruptcy I promised myself I would NEVER EVER
E-V-E-R be in that place again.
I knew I had to do something different.
I knew I had to change my mindset about money.
I started immersing myself in learning how to change my thoughts to have a better life, why self-care is so important, how to open myself up to abundance, how gratitude is essential and how to use affirmations from many great spiritual leaders and authors from Hay House such as the late Dr. Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, Cheryl Richardson, Abraham-Hicks and many others.
I started changing my thoughts around money.
I went from broke thoughts of “not enough” to knowing I am always taken care of and always have enough and then shifted that to “I always have more than enough”. I believe that money flows to me easily. Those seemingly simple shifts helped significantly transform my relationship with money.
Although I had started changing the way I handled money, too, I ran into another problem. 18 months after I filed bankruptcy I was making a 6 figure income. I had more money than I’d ever had before and I didn’t know exactly how to manage it.
So I started immersing myself in learning how to handle money. I took Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (FPU) and learned practical steps to take control of my money. I also listened to Dave Ramsey’s radio show podcast 10 hours a week to keep myself motivated and inspired to reach my goals. My first goal was paying off the little bit of debt I had, and then my next goal was to save $25,000 for my emergency fund. Now I am saving up cash to buy my next vehicle and then I will be saving a large sum for a down payment on my next home.
I still listen to Dave’s podcast 10 hours a week! I learn so much from his Podcast – not just about money. I also learn about leadership, insurance, boundaries and negotiating. And listening to people’s debt-free screams is highly motivating!
Then I felt called to lead FPU. I remember after my first class I felt so confident answering questions and guiding others as they began to learn how to better handle their money. I enjoyed the experience so much that I decided to get certified as a Financial Coach through Dave Ramsey’s organization ii.
I have also taken and received certificates in several courses by Masters such as Tony Robbins, Brendon Burchard, Roger Love, Bo Eason, Chalene Johnson, and Rhonda Britten to advance my skills as a speaker, teacher, coach and workshop facilitator. In addition, I hold a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin. (Feel free to view my full list of certifications and education on my Linkedin Profile).
I’ve worked hard to completely retrain my brain and change my relationship with money. Now I want to help others do the same. Attend one of my workshops [link to events page] or schedule a 1:1 session [link to schedule page] to get started now.
